Health, wellness, & connection for all.

Squash Collective is a community fitness initiative that blends mission-driven purpose with high-energy fun. Our doors are open to everyone, creating access to health, play, and connection through squash, regardless of financial means, background, or experience level.

Why we're doing this

Guiding Principles

We're working to give the world a little nudge in the right direction. Here's how and why.
Sports transform us
Movement changes the way we feel, think, and show up in daily life. Squash gives people strength, energy, confidence, and clarity, both on and off the court.
As a sport, squash is special
Ranked the #1 sport for overall fitness, squash is easy to start and endlessly deep. It's both competitive and collaborative, intense but non-contact. It trains both body and mind, building responsiveness, endurance, strategy, presence, humility, and resilience.
Third places are vital for a strong community
People need spaces outside of home and work where they can belong. Shared passion and connection means friendships form, communities grow, and our city becomes a little more alive.
Transparent Innovation
We’re building a new model for community fitness, one that combines mission with sustainability. As a public-benefit company, we're committed to open financials, clear communication,  and annual impact reporting, so our community knows how we operate and who we serve.
Radical Access
Everyone deserves a place to play. We welcome all ages, identities, backgrounds, and income levels. Our sliding-scale financial support and scholarships ensure that cost is never a barrier.

FAQs for volunteers and supporters

Everything you need to know our mission, structure, and how you can join the cause.
What does "public benefit company" mean?
As registered with the State of Minnesota, Squash Collective's operating agreement commits the company to focusing on a social mission and making a positive impact on society. We've also committed Squash Collective to considering the impact of all decisions on employees, customers, the community, and the local and global environment.

This holds us to a higher standard of transparency and accountability. Each year, we report and publish a public benefit assessment measuring our social impact. This structure ensures that our commitment to community health and equity isn’t just a promise, but rather made up of hard data and public accountability.

If you itemize your philanthropic donations (i.e. they total over $14,500 annually), please note that donations to organizations with our structure are not tax deductible.
What does the Access Alliance support?
The Access Alliance exists to make squash more accessible in the Twin Cities—right from the start. It helps cover early-stage expenses like member subsidies, scholarships, equipment, court leasing, instructor pay, and outreach efforts. These contributions let us open the doors wider, sooner, and to more people.

We’re building a community health model designed to sustain access through its own operations—where affordable, inclusive programming is powered not by outside funding, but by participation itself. Every contribution to the Access Fund helps us get there faster—and proves that fitness, focus, and community don’t have to be limited by income.
How can a local organization or business get involved?
We welcome partnerships with local organizations that share our commitment to fitness, equity, and community well-being.

Businesses can get involved through team sponsorship, employee wellness programs, teambuilding and leadership programming, event sponsorships, or by supporting access initiatives like youth clinics and sliding-scale memberships.

We also collaborate on community events and welcome in-kind support that helps expand our reach. If you’re interested in bringing squash to your team, your customers, or your neighborhood, get more information on our organizations page.
What does volunteering mean exactly?
Volunteering with us is super flexible—there’s no set time commitment, and no special skills required.

Right now, the biggest way you can help is by spreading the word: invite friends to try a free class, share us on social, or just talk us up.

We’re also looking for folks who want to connect us to the community, offer ideas, or give feedback as we grow. If you’ve got time or talent to offer, that’s fantastic—but if all you do is tell a few people about us, that’s already a huge help. So thank you.
What makes Squash Collective different? And where is it going?
Squash Collective isn’t a typical gym or squash club. We’re a community-powered model focused on access, not exclusivity—designed to bring the benefits of movement, focus, and connection to more people.

We're starting in the Twin Cities, but the long-term vision is bigger: to grow a network of mission-aligned programs in other cities, each shaped by local needs but grounded in the same values. For now, we’re focused on getting it right in Minnesota, and inviting people to help build something that can grow.
